Most of you know that we are adopting a little boy. He has been in our home since April 16. We love him so much!!
He is 11 and he LOVES LEGOS!!!! I mean he really loves Legos!!! This Christmas will be all about Legos at our house. Even our 9 year old is wanting Legos now.
I tried to find a Lego Stocking for Christmas and could not find what I wanted, so I decided to make it!
I have one complete and another one almost complete. Here is the completed one:
It was really easy to make. I made it in one night. It is 24 inches long and 8 inches wide.
First I cut pieces of different colored fabric to look like Legos.
Then I layed them together like this:
Next I sewed the rows together, then ironed the seams flat, then sewed the rows to one another. Ironing the seams flat again. I think that ironing the seams makes a big difference. It just sews together so much easier.
Next I just cut out cotton batting in the shape of a stocking and layed it on the "Block" fabric:
I pinned it down on the wrong side of the fabric, and quilted it.
I then trimmed the extra "Block" fabric away and then sewed the front of the stocking to the back of the stocking right sides together and then clipped the corners and turned the stocking. To finish the top, I just turned the fleece down an inch and zigzaged it.
to create the Lego Head I just traced the head onto the yellow fabric, then cut out 2 of fabric and one of interfacing. I then sewed them together with right sides together making sure to leave an opening to turn. Then I clipped the corners and turned it right side out. I sewed buttons on to create the eyes and mouth.
I am finishing the second stocking now and I will take photos of how I did the Lego head.
Hope this inspires you to create something!
Have a great day!!
