Lego Stocking

Most of you know that we are adopting a little boy.  He has been in our home since April 16.  We love him so much!!

He is 11 and he LOVES LEGOS!!!!  I mean he really loves Legos!!!  This Christmas will be all about Legos at our house.  Even our 9 year old is wanting Legos now.

I tried to find a Lego Stocking for Christmas and could not find what I wanted, so I decided to make it!

I have one complete and another one almost complete.  Here is the completed one:

It was really easy to make.  I made it in one night. It is 24 inches long and 8 inches wide.

First I cut pieces of different colored fabric to look like Legos.
Then I layed them together like this:

Next I sewed the rows together, then ironed the seams flat, then sewed the rows to one another.  Ironing the seams flat again. I think that ironing the seams makes a big difference.  It just sews together so much easier.
Next I just cut out cotton batting in the shape of a stocking and layed it on the "Block" fabric:

I pinned it down on the wrong side of the fabric, and quilted it.
I then trimmed the extra "Block" fabric away and then sewed the front of the stocking to the back of the stocking right sides together and then clipped the corners and turned the stocking. To finish the top, I just turned the fleece down an inch and zigzaged it.

to create the Lego Head I just traced the head onto the yellow fabric, then cut out 2 of fabric and one of interfacing.  I then sewed them together with right sides together making sure to leave an opening to turn.  Then I clipped the corners and turned it right side out.  I sewed buttons on to create the eyes and mouth.

I am finishing the second stocking now and I will take photos of how I did the Lego head.

Hope this inspires you to create something!

Have a great day!!

Feeling good!

I have been so busy with life that I have not had time to scrapbook.  But last night I sat at my desk and created 4 LO's!!  I was so excited when I was done, I hope to be able to create a few more LO's this week.

LO of me and my sister on our 4th birthday.

Here is a LO of all the people that attended our birthday.

Here are 2 LO's from last year when we went to Washington DC to see the sights.  It was the first time I have been to Arlington Cemetary.

Happy Scrapping!!!

Beautiful

We love going to the park with our camera in our hand.  Yesterday I was able to get some amazing photos at Tom Brown Park.

Hunter had a great time outside.  He just loved to look at all the turtles and bugs.

He had a great time.

Sad week with a happy ending.

We had a rough week here at the Aultman family. We came home on Monday and our Russian Blue kitty did not look very good.  Rob took him to the vet on Tuesday and they said his liver was failing.  They kept him in the hospital over night, but he did not get any better.  We had to make a very tough decision.  It was a bad day. On Wednesday we said good bye to our little man (Hunter).

Yesterday we were at the park and the animal shelter is on the same road. We decided to stop in to have a look and we found another Russian Blue that acted just like our little man.  We brought him home today.  We named him Jax.  He is a cutie.  I will post photos soon.

Have a great week.

Another GREAT visit!

We had another great visit with Hunter on Friday. This time we were able to bring Cameron and Madison with us. We met Hunter and Mrs. Golden at the Burger King in St. Pete and we headed to play Put Put. We had a great time playing golf. Hunter had never played before and he did an amazing job. We then headed to the beach. It was a beautiful day!!!!
We hope to bring Hunter home at the end of March. We are planning on visiting him again this weekend. This time Nanna is coming with us!! She cannot wait to meet Hunter and he can't wait to meet her!!

I am so EXCITED!!!

Some of you know that we have been trying to adopt out of the foster care system in Florida for 2 years now. As of 1/3/2012 we have reached a turning point. We met a little boy named Hunter. He is an amazing little boy. We have spent a few days with him now and he will become our little boy. We have a few more visits before he will move in with us. We are trying to get the house ready for him too. We will be moving Madison (our 18 year old son) to the room off the garage so that Hunter will have a room across the hall from us. He will be next door to Cameron. Cameron and Hunter will go to the same school, they are one grade apart. Hunter has been doing so well since he found out that we "Want" him.

It really is amazing to see how these kids just light up when they learn that some one "wants" them. That is all they really want, to be "wanted". I know that things are going to change around here, and I can't wait!!!

I will post more as we get closer to bringing him home. The process is a little time consuming, but we are trying to have patience!!

Time flies!!!

It seems like yesterday that I was bringing my first son home from the hospital. He will be 21 on Monday, January 9th!!! on the day he was born I became a mother, my mom became a Nanna, my dad became a Poppa and my grandmother's both became great grandma's. Mathew was the first of his generation on both sides of my parents families and on his dad's side of the family. since then, I have had 2 more boys, my parents now have 16 grandkids. my Grandmother has too many great grandkids to count! 21 years ago was the start of many things in our family.

It has been an emotional week for me. Thinking that my oldest will be 21 on the 9th and my youngest will be 18 on the 31st. It really does go by fast. Too fast if you ask me. I wish I could turn the clock back and enjoy them more. There was always too much to do. Raising 3 boys on your own makes it hard. I often wonder why God had me raise them on my own, but it is not for me to understand. God is in control. I have 3 handsome, wonderful young men and I love them very much and they love me too.

I cannot wait to celebrate Mathew's 21st birthday. We are having the family over tomorrow for Mathew's favorite meal, Tuna Casserole and a Peanut Butter and Jelly cake. It will be a great time of celebration.

I will have pictures to scrap!!
