Transparency Transfer Technique!

Well i decided to do a tutorial for the canvas I made for my MIL. I have now made a total of 4 of these and they are a big hit. So let me show you how I did it.

Frist collect your supplies:

Canvas board (works better than the stretched), Transparency, burnishing tool, Ink Jet Printer, paints, Spray on sealer or finisher, decorations and Varnish.

—Begin by printing your picture on the transparency. I do Black and white because it showes up better. Make sure to print it large enough so you can see the faces of the people in the photo. Also make sure to flip the photo if needed. I also noticed that the more contrast in the photo the better it turned out. (I used at 5x7 photo for all mine.)

Photobucket

—As soon as the picture is printed you need to flip in over on to the canvas and start burnishing it. Go in many directions. I usually even do a circular motion. (You need to get it in all the grooves of the canvas.)

Photobucket

Next, test to see that the image has transferred to the canvas. Lift a corner and look, making sure not to move the transparency. If it looks good remove the transparency, if not continue burnishing.

Once the image is on the canvas, let it sit for several days before continuing.
transfer
(The image will look a little grainy but will smooth out when you add the Varnish.)

If you want to use a spray sealer or finisher you could do that now to seal the photo. (You do not have to use the spray sealer.)

Once it has dried for several days, You can continue decorating the canvas. (Make sure you do not touch the transferred image with the paint brush if you did not seal it.)
Photobucket
Let it dry for a day or two and then add the finishing touches.

Photobucket

Once you are finished, add the varnish to seal the canvas. If you did not use the spray sealer, make sure to only go over the transferred image once with the paint brush and let it dry or it will start to run together.

Here are my finished projects. Notice that one has the colored photo on it. That is because I messed up the image and decided to just glue the original photo on it instead of throwing it away. That is an option if the transfer does not work!

Relax!

Well I was able to get this LO finished last night and it reminded me that my hubby needs to take time to relax. He is so stressed about work right now. He looks so peaceful in this photo. Maybe I need to take him fishing again so he can sit and watch us fish. Seems to help him relax!!

This is the first time I have tried the "lace up" affect. I really like how it came out. I will use it again. I used my Cricut to cut the embellishments and title. I love my Cricut. The font is Cuttin Up (Used my design studio to weld them together.) and the rest was cut with Home Accents. The paper was old paper that I have had. I am trying to use my stash. There is a challenge posted every week at Lets Scrap. I am trying to use what I have before buying more.

Happy Scrapping!!

The many LO's of Nannie's birthday!

Well we had a great visit with my Nannie. It was nice to be able to celebrate her 90th birthday. Here are the LO's I did to remember the celebration. I make 4 to 5 LO's of major events in our lives so that I can break them up when my boys are ready to leave the house. I want each of them to have their own book with all the major events of their lives.

oh to be scrapping again!!

I finally got a LO done tonight!! I am so happy to be scrapping again. After a busy week it helps me to unwind.
I love to use the sketches posted on Lets Scrap Divas, this is Sketch #21. This one turned out great.

Photobucket
The journalling says "We do not stop playing because we grow old... we grow old because we stop playing!"

The photo was from our trip to Universal Studios Orlando in January. Hubby is a big comic fan!!

gifts!

I made my mom a Mother's Day gift. I love how it turned out.
I did the transfer technique for the photo.

Photobucket

Then I decided to make one for my SIL for her birthday! But I used the original photo on hers. She does not see the boys that often and I wanted hers to be clearer.

Photobucket

So now I am going to make myself one. I love them both.
